My hobby is creating something new out of something old or damaged. The thrill is finding something unusual and incorporating into my craft. I started by collecting fabrics and clothing from the thrift shops. At first I really didn't know what to do with all this fabric and clothing, so I started experimenting: first crazy patch quilts, then embroidering used clothing, next purses. I'm still in the experimental stages, but I'm having a great time creating.

Wine Takes the Bitch Right Out of Me! Small handbag
When I found this T-shirt I knew that I found something that was screaming "I need a new life!!!" It took me awhile to find all the right backing and lining. But this is what I created and posted on Etsy. A black and pink small handbag "Wine Takes the Bitch Out of Me" t-shirt with pink fun fur trim. The backside of the purse was a black sequin skirt which I lined it in bright pink to match the trim. The lining is grey and black leopard fabric. There are 2 big pockets to store your cell phone, keys, Etc. One of the pockets has an attached key ring. I used left over t-shirt material to make all my key chain rings. To give the t-shirt shape and not stretch, I used fleece interfacing. The straps have light weight interfacing to give it strength.
Approximate Size:
Purse - 11in (wide) X 10in (tall)
2 Straps - 1in X 22in

Plain black sequin skirt and I added pink behind the sequins...to give it some more colour and fun. The pink fun fur and lining are left over teddy bear fabric from moms bear business.
The key chain is left over Tshirt fabric and the ring is from mom's business too!

Memory Quilt - My Youngers Years
This was a project that took about 30 years to make. My mom collected pictures that I drew when I was about 5 years old and she started to make a quilt, before she really understood the art of quilt making. When I finished college we dug up the quilt again. I told her that I really didn't like the gingum brown and white that she chose. So we pick out other colours and incorporated photos of me and my brother. It took days to take apart the old quilt and design a new one, but I'm so happy that we took the time to do it. Now I have something to remember my young years and also the time that my mom and I took to make the quilt.
